Do you #GiveACup?

HA! You guys all know how much I love coffee. It’s actually kind of obscene how much I love it. I mean, I really take my coffee seriously. I love a good dark roast. The smell of great coffee can bring me to my knees. My Keurig is one of the most important things in my life. COULD. NOT. LIVE. WITHOUT. IT. I even bring one camping with me.

peet's coffee

I can not wait to try this Peet’s Coffee! When I read the description of the French Roast, I knew it was right up my alley.

French Roast – Single Cups

Our darkest roast is not for the cautious. But these rich, glistening beans are a favorite of Peet’s roasters.
It’s the same French Roast you love, roasted by the same roasters, and treated with the same craft and care as the rest of our coffees… now available in convenient Single Cups.

Intensely bold and flavorful. Pronounced smoky overtones with a pleasant bite.

Oh! A coffee dream come true for me! I am picking up a box of the French Roast Single Cups this weekend. I’m sure I’ll be Instagramming all about it on Sunday. I know, I know, I have an Instagram problem.

So, tell me. What is your morning drink of choice? Are you totally obsessed with coffee or tea? Or could you take it or leave it? We all already know where I stand.

Stay tuned for some over filtered Instagram pics!

My day with the Red Sox!

Just writing that title makes me smile.

Best email ever!

Best email ever!

When I opened my email and saw an invitation to Fenway Park, I almost fell off my chair. I am part of a HUGE Red Sox fan family. All of my family lives in the Boston area. To see this in my email was awesome! Date night for Kevin and I!

We started off the day with a tour around the park. Loved hearing all of the stories. The history of Fenway is amazing. I remember going to games when I was younger and I never actually thought about the history. I was just there for fun. After the tour, we sat down in the offices for a fantastic “focus group” discussion. I learned SO much. I had no idea how family friendly a trip to Fenway could be. I found myself saying “Jake would love this” or “Chloe would think that is so cool.” We started planning our next trip before we even left.

Oh! I can’t forget about the Red Sox Kid Nation membership. Such a fun idea!

Perfect gift for kids who are Red Sox fans! I am totally buying a few for my nieces. They will get such a kick out of it. My kids love getting anything in the mail, and they flipped out over this!

We had such a great day! I was even surprised by the reasonable food prices, good to know I wouldn’t have to sell one of my kids just to feed the rest of them! I really had no idea how fun it could be to bring the whole family. I think Jake would love to walk around outside in Yawkey Way. I know Kevin loved walking around out there and he had to have the sausage before we left!

Kevin HAD to have a sausage!

Weekend Wrap-Up!

Howdy! Right now I am typing this with a numb mouth. I had a dentist appointment this afternoon to finish up some stuff I needed done. Let me tell you something. My dentist’s office rocks. Seriously. If you are looking for a new dentist in CT, check out Advanced Dental in Berlin. They are fantastic! Love them!

So anyway, enough about my teeth! Our weekend started with Chelsea’s senior prom on Friday night. She looked so beautiful! I was a little emotional, but way better than I thought I would be. She had a blast and is now counting down the days until graduation.

Saturday was FREEZING. Crazy Memorial Day weekend weather. It was super windy and rainy. We always have a camp out this weekend, and we had to cancel. Everyone was so bummed. Now I need to find another free weekend to reschedule it. So annoying! We did end up having friends over for dinner and I made one of our family favorites, Chicken Spaghetti from The Pioneer Woman Cooks Cookbook. We had a great night. Chloe had a friend sleep over and Saturday night turned out fun even though we had a change of plans.

Sunday and Monday were all about Parades and family time. The weather was still kinda yucky on Sunday so we just hung out in the house after the Westfield parade. Jake and his Scout troop decorated the veteran’s graves in the Westfield Cemetery on Sunday morning. It was such a nice day. Monday was the Middletown parade on Main Street. It is my mother’s favorite day of the year! She is the most patriotic person we know and we love it!

Memorial day

It was a fantastic weekend full of friends, family and lots of food. I hope you had a great weekend! Did you go anything fun or just hang out at home?

In case you are wondering where I have been, (okay, come on, humor me)
you can check out some stuff over at Middlesex County Parent.

Grand opening of Whole Foods Market in Danbury CT!

Chelsea and I had a fun Girls night in with Sally Hansen!

Making new choices

It is January 8th. Tuesday. This is the first week of being back to “normal”. What ever that is, right? I thought I had my new plan all set and then this week I realized it wasn’t going to work. I made charts and lists and read every organizing blog out there. I printed off way too many cute printables to help get myself organized. I was in control. I had a plan. Not so much.

I have not followed any of my plans. Didn’t clean what I was supposed to, or cook what my meal plan said to cook. And I know why. Because I needed to get all of my budget stuff for the new year organized. It finally hit me that I can not move forward and feel organized if financially I am not all set. So today I sat down and finished our new budget for the month and made some new choices about saving and spending. We are big Dave Ramsey fans in this house and are working to pay off all of our debt. Say no credit cards! At first it was hard and frustrating, but now it is just a way of life. We have changed our priorities and have amazing goals for our family.

I was a bit haphazard the last couple of months and have spent way too much time thinking about getting organized in all of the other areas in my life. Seriously, how did I not realize until now that if I am stressed about money, nothing else will fall into place? I actually already knew this little fact but seemed to have forgot it for a while while I was doing a million other things. It is easy to get comfortable in a routine, and not even notice when it stops working. That’s where I was.

Now that we are back on track and am working toward our financial goals and family goals for the year, I feel like I can breath again. My plans don’t have to be perfect, and I will change them up over the year but it feels so much better to feel like I have a handle on our finances. After I finished working on our money stuff I made some calls that I needed to make finally and cleaned my kitchen. Yup. I’m ready.

2013. Let’s go.
