Climbing mountains.

My life has taken a couple of twists and turns this year. Some amazing things have happened, and some pretty crappy things have happened. I made some decisions that I have questioned, and some that have been the best decisions of my life. While I am still trying to figure out what the hell I am doing half the time, I know I am moving in the right direction.

Today I climbed a mountain.

A year ago I would have NEVER done that.

Yup. Today was a good day.

Disney On Ice Princesses and Heroes is heading to Hartford!

Disney on Ice

Our family loves everything Disney. Seriously, we are freaks for anything Disney. When we saw that Disney on Ice was coming to Hartford we were thrilled. We took the kids to a Disney on Ice show years ago. Chloe was a baby actually. Jacob had a blast and loved every minute of it. I loved seeing the look on his face through the whole thing. He was in a trance! He thought it was the best night ever at that time of his cute little life. It really was a fun family night out, and we are looking forward to seeing the show this week.

Feld Entertainment produced this new touring show that takes audiences where imaginations soar and anything can happen if they just believe. Ariel’s dreams are unlocked from under the sea and, in one magical moment, Prince Eric breaks Ursula’s slithering spell to reclaim his one true love. In a race against time to rescue Sleeping Beauty’s Aurora, Prince Philip defeats the evil Maleficent as she transforms into a fire-breathing dragon. Rapunzel fulfills her dream to escape the tower and see the floating lights; Tiana celebrates her ambitions of owning a restaurant down in New Orleans; Jasmine discovers a whole new world with Aladdin; and Snow White finds her one true love. This beautiful presentation also reveals Cinderella and Belle’s deepest wishes.

Have you ever been to a Disney on Ice show? Are you a crazy Disney fan like I am? I’d love to hear about it! If you are planning on seeing the show this week let me know how you liked it and if you see me wandering around in my Disney trance looking for some light up thing we really don’t need, but HAVE TO HAVE, say hi!

Family Time at Lyman Orchards this weekend

This weekend was the first weekend in ages that we had any free time. Of course we HAD to find something to do Sunday afternoon. How could we waste the day? Actually we are very good at wasting the day away at home, but we knew we didn’t have much free time before Halloween and we had some stuff we wanted to do.

Lyman Orchards 2

Off to Lyman Orchards we went! What a beautiful Fall day. The weather was perfect for the Corn Maze. The kids had a blast picking out pumpkins and we even bought a huge scarecrow for our yard. The Apple Barrel was crowded, but not as crazy as I had expected. We must have timed it right!

We made sure we picked up our favorite apple cider donut holes and of course a famous Hi-Top Apple Pie . We have a busy week ahead this week, and are heading to NYC for family weekend at Chelsea’s college this weekend. I am so happy we were able to fit in a trip to Lyman Orchards. It wouldn’t feel like Fall without it!

Lyman Orchards

If you are looking for something fun to do with the family you should totally check out Lyman Orchards. They have their awesome corn maze and when we were there, they also had pony rides for the kids. Check out what is available for picking and make a fun day of it. Are you already a fan of Lyman Orchards? I’d love to hear why you love it!

New ice cream alert! #meetharvey

I scream, you scream, we all scream for new HOOD ice cream! WooHoo!

harvey bar shirt

Okay, I know that seems a little over the top, but I LOVE ice cream. If you follow me over on Instagram (cherylbudge) you know that I eat lots of ice cream. When my friend Julie from A Year With Mom and Dad invited me to her Hood play date I might have jumped for joy. I might have even did a little happy dance at my desk when I saw the invite. Not only was I going to see a bunch of my local blogging friends, I was going to taste the new Harvey Bar from Hood. What a perfect day!

harvey bar

It was neat to hear fun Hood facts. Did you know that the Harvey Bar was named after Harvey Perley Hood who started his company in 1846 in Charlestown, Massachusetts? Well now you know! After we all chatted about the new Harvey Bar, the kids played with bubbles and we all had some ice cream. YUM. We were so happy that we were in a nice shady spot at Wickham Park. It was about 100 degrees outside. A great day for ice cream!

I am now a fan of the new Harvey Bar. I tried the Vanilla Crisp and was thrilled I could actually taste all the crispy things. Usually when something says “crisp” it is hardly noticeable. Not the case with this bar. I loved it. Chloe loved it. We bought a few packages with the coupons they gave us. I was already a Hood chocolate chip ice cream fan and now I have a new favorite!

Thanks Julie and Hood for the fun afternoon!

Oh, and let’s keep the ice cream happy dance just between us okay?

Weekend Wrap-Up!

Howdy! Right now I am typing this with a numb mouth. I had a dentist appointment this afternoon to finish up some stuff I needed done. Let me tell you something. My dentist’s office rocks. Seriously. If you are looking for a new dentist in CT, check out Advanced Dental in Berlin. They are fantastic! Love them!

So anyway, enough about my teeth! Our weekend started with Chelsea’s senior prom on Friday night. She looked so beautiful! I was a little emotional, but way better than I thought I would be. She had a blast and is now counting down the days until graduation.

chelsea prom

Saturday was FREEZING. Crazy Memorial Day weekend weather. It was super windy and rainy. We always have a camp out this weekend, and we had to cancel. Everyone was so bummed. Now I need to find another free weekend to reschedule it. So annoying! We did end up having friends over for dinner and I made one of our family favorites, Chicken Spaghetti from The Pioneer Woman Cooks Cookbook. We had a great night. Chloe had a friend sleep over and Saturday night turned out fun even though we had a change of plans.

Sunday and Monday were all about Parades and family time. The weather was still kinda yucky on Sunday so we just hung out in the house after the Westfield parade. Jake and his Scout troop decorated the veteran’s graves in the Westfield Cemetery on Sunday morning. It was such a nice day. Monday was the Middletown parade on Main Street. It is my mother’s favorite day of the year! She is the most patriotic person we know and we love it!

Memorial day

It was a fantastic weekend full of friends, family and lots of food. I hope you had a great weekend! Did you go anything fun or just hang out at home?

In case you are wondering where I have been, (okay, come on, humor me)
you can check out some stuff over at Middlesex County Parent.

Grand opening of Whole Foods Market in Danbury CT!

Chelsea and I had a fun Girls night in with Sally Hansen!

Happy Friday!

Chloe Blizzard 2013

I am so happy it is finally Friday! This has been a rough week with all of the kids home, and our schedule all out of whack. We have made the best of it but we are all ready to get back to normal. Throw in my anniversary and Valentine’s Day and I really need my schedule back. I have been totally off track all week and I can feel it.

I did not track these points! :)

I did not track these points! :)

I have not really tracked my Weight Watchers points this week, or jumped on my elliptical. I can really feel the difference. I have so much less energy and feel all around yucky. I cannot do this again, and will be getting back on track completely on Tuesday. I have to make exercise and eating healthy a priority. Although I do eat some junk food and love my baked goods, I need to make sure I’m tracking it and I’m not going overboard. Oh sleep. I need to make sure I am also getting enough sleep. It is crazy how a blizzard and an unexpected week off of school and all activities can mess you up so much! But on a positive note, my house is kind of clean and I am caught up on work. So yay!

I am looking forward to a great weekend starting tonight with a trip to Foxwoods to see Eddie Izzard . So excited. We have seen him before and I swear I have never laughed so hard in my life. I need this kid free night out so much! Chelsea has her last college auditions this weekend and we will be heading to Boston for one of them. We are staying overnight and making it a quick family adventure. As much as we have tried to have fun with all these auditions, I will be happy when they are finally done and we can move on with the next steps.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Have any fun plans? I know a lot of my friends and neighbors are just thrilled to be able to leave the house this weekend!
